The terroir of Château Saint-Roux

The Château Saint-Roux vineyards cover 40 hectares in the heart of the Var region. The name Château Saint-Roux comes from the color of its soil, which displays orange and ruddy highlights.

The vines benefit from very rich soil. It contains iron and bauxite, essential nutrients that enable the vines to give their best. They act as a catalyst, multiplying the berries' aromas.

The Château Saint-Roux vineyard is located in a windy corridor. The vines are beaten by this powerful wind, and thus dried and purified. This naturally protects them from diseases, which are driven away by the air current. There's no need to add chemical pesticides, and the vineyard can be farmed organically.

In addition to chemical-free vines, Château Saint-Roux wines are made using natural, local yeasts. The aim is to reflect the expression of the terroir as faithfully as possible, while at the same time intensifying the complexity of the aromas.

The acclimatization of Château Saint-Roux grape varieties

Château Saint-Roux grows various grape varieties and is taking part in an experiment being conducted in conjunction with the Var Chamber of Agriculture. This involves growing an experimental plot to analyze the behavior of different grape varieties.

The selection contains southern grape varieties that are already highly resistant to drought: Mourvèdre gris and blanc, Touriga nacional, Calabrese and Mavrud. The aim is to observe their resistance to global warming.

The wines of Château Saint-Roux

Friponne - Rosé de Pays des Maures from Château Saint-Roux

Friponne evokes a certain lightness, and this very fresh rosé from Château Saint-Roux reflects the estate's simplicity, as much as its authenticity. It is a blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Viognier, Marselan, Merlot and Nielluccio.

This Pays des Maures wine is powerfully aromatic, with a strong presence of white fruit. It is supple and round, always well-balanced. The nose is also marked by white fruits.

Château Saint-Roux's Cuvée Friponne rosé is perfect for summer aperitifs in the garden. Its indigenous yeasts give it a depth that encourages you to keep it for the meal, alongside grilled meats or sardines a la plancha.

La Guinguette - Vin Rosé Pétillant Extra Brut

La Guinguette is Château Saint-Roux's sparkling rosé wine. Its fine, delicate bubbles give it a lively, fresh taste. The nose is rich in fruity notes, dominated by red fruits, especially raspberries. The mentholated finish adds to its freshness.

La Guinguette sparkling wine goes well with aperitifs and desserts, such as raspberry coulis, fruit salad or strawberry tart.
